The Bull Coinage of Emperor Julian
When Flavius Claudius Julian started to rule as Augustus alone on November 361 AD, he created a unique coin iconography and issued a series of bull-depicted coins which were not depicted on coins for a long time. The message these coins may contain, bearing the legend SECVRITAS REI PVB, was discussed by scholars but they could not reach consensus. The porpuse of this work to examine these bull-depicted coinage of Julian. For this pursope, these coins were examined with a title similar legend and different type, and then what the bull could symbolize were reviewed in line with the interpretations made.
