ARCHAEOLOGICAL SETTLEMENT ANALYSIS METHODS: Applications at the Early Bronze Age Settlements of the Middle Khabur Basin
Settlement Analysis is a key component of the theoretical approaches of New Archaeology, since the first steps taken in the 1950s. This approach is concerned with Social Archaeology and Settlement Archaeology. Using Geographical Information Systems, the settlement analysis methods developed by the followers of New Archaeology, the 3rd millennium BC settlement systems of the Middle Khabur basin is examined in this study. These settlements are composed of small and large villages, managed within a centralized settlement pattern, and met the nutritional needs of the surrounding settlements.
