Abstract

G.Ö. 8200 CLIMATE EVENT: BACKGROUND, CHARACTER AND EFFECTS
B.P. 8200 abrupt climate event originating from the North Atlantic is known to be effective globally. This abrupt climatic event has been studied very well in various parts of the world, oceans and glaciers found in various terrestrial sedimentary environments, and it is very clearly defined in a cause-effect relationship. With these studies, the changes observed before and after this climate change, for how long of a period this climate event was effective, its magnitude, structure, and changes it caused in various geographies have been widely elucidated. In addition, abrupt climatic changes like this make it possible to develop various models intended for how the climate will be like in the future. On the other hand, getting to know this climatic event, which had its signature on this period with the abrupt drought and cooling observed in the climate 8200 years ago, allows us to understand how the Neolithic communities that lived in this period created solutions to this event. However, such climatic changes do not cause similar effects everywhere in geographies like Anatolia that show significant topographical changes between short distances. For this reason, it would be wrong to assume that this climate event, whose effects have been shown in very few places yet, causes similar effects in all Anatolia.
